The Fire-fighters at Waltham work hard to try and prevent fires, death and accidents via their successful Community Fire Safety programmes and activities in the area ranging from safety education in schools to home safety checks. Recently Retained Fire-fighters from Waltham Community Fire Station attended Waltham Pre School and Waltham Leas Junior School to help with their learning through play scheme. The Teachers and children where shown all the safety and protective clothing that a Fire-fighter has to wear when attending an emergency. The children where also given Firefly story books and stickers and those brave enough to battle the rain when outside were given a tour around the Fire Engine including hands on holding a fire hose and watching the blue flashing lights Parents and teachers greatly appreciated the visit and it was a great chance to get the dangers of fire across to our younger children. All in all a very worthwhile and rewarding visit For more information on Waltham Pre School please visit www.walthampreschool.org |
